| Gator swimmers at the
2008 championship meet |
High school swimmers are strongly encouraged by their coaches to stay
active in the summer. Summer league practice and competition is
ideal for the high school swimmers who want additional training time to
increase their chances of success in high school competition. By joining the Gator Summer League team, high
school swimmers will be able to continue building endurance and develop
their stroke techniques, staying in shape and having fun all summer in the
company of new friends.

You don't need to be a competitive swimmer in high school to reap the benefits that a structured swimming program has to offer. Swimming is a sport that can be beneficial to anyone, regardless of age, body type or ability. It is an excellent form of exercise. Because the density of the human body is very similar to that of water, the body is supported by the water and less stress is therefore placed on joints and bones. The support from the water allows a full-body cardiovascular workout without compressing the joints, and can help to regulate breathing. Whether you’re preparing for a tough running season or simply want to increase your endurance for the next football or basketball season, swimming will help you get there.
