Besides great credentials, our coaches have a lot of personal time and
effort invested in helping individuals grow, develop, set their own
goals and succeed.

Coach Steve started coaching in 1974 and has worked with swimmers of all ages and abilities during his long career. As a swimmer, Steve was ranked Top-6 in the state as a high-school athlete, continued to swim thorough college, and was a World Class Masters champion. He has been the National Coaches Advisor for the U.S. Paralympic team, Assistant Coach for two national distance camps, Head Coach for the National Disabilities Camp, Zone Coach for the Indiana and Ozark LSCs, and state coach for the Ozark AAU Junior Olympics team. |

Steffan
troxel, Summer League Co-Head Coach
Coach Steffan is a Gator grad who also swam for Indiana
University. During his years at the Gator Swim Team, he
established himself as one of the most successful swimmers in the
team's history, still holding several records. A senior
national and junior national qualifier in the distance freestyle
events, Steffan competed at the the U.S. Open in San Antonio, Texas
and at the 2005 World Championship Trials in Indianapolis.
More recently he swam the 1,500 freestyle at the 2008 U.S. Olympic
Trials and competed for the the Hoosiers in several Big Ten
Championships. |

Jameson
Kuper, Summer League Co-Head Coach
Coach Jameson has been involved in the sport since 1993, when he started swimming right here on the Gator
SwimTeam. During his 9 years as a Gator he set numerous records — some of them still stand today. Later,
Jameson swam for the Salukis in Carbondale (2004-2006) where he also set team records that have yet to be
broken.
In high school, Jameson competed for Notre Dame Regional High School and was an All-State swimmer five
times. In his senior year he placed second in the 200 free with a 1:43.16 and third in the 100 breaststroke
with a 58.80.
Jameson currently attends Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, where he is studying Math and Spanish.
He swam for SIU from 2006 to 2010, serving as team captain in his senior year and being voted the most
improved swimmer of the team two years in a row. He broke the school record in the 100 breaststroke twice
with a 55.29, and has the fourth all-time SIU 200 breaststroke time with a 2:00.30. Jameson also holds a
top-10 SIU all-time mark in the 200 I.M. with a 1:50.87 and is a multiple All-Sunbelt swimmer and All
Mid-American Conference (MAC) swimmer. He won the 100 breaststroke at the MAC Championships, placing second
in the 200 breaststroke and fifth in the 200 IM in 2010, and was voted MAC senior of the year by all teams
in the conference. He was also named All-MAC First Team and voted most valuable SIU swimmer in the 2009-2010
year.
In 2009 and 2010, Coach Jameson spend some time in Mexico where he swam in the 2009 Mexican National
Championship (placing second in both breaststrokes) and defended the El Tecnologico de Monterrey for one
semester in the Fall 2010, training and competing alongside Olympic swimmers from that country.

Joanie
Edmundson, Certified Swim Coach
Coach Joanie has over 10 years of swim coaching experience. She is a full-time kindergarten teacher at Jefferson Elementary and specializes in stroke instruction for entry level swimmers.

Coach Sally lives in Jackson with her three children Shay, Coleton and Haylee, and has
taught preschool for the past 20 years. She grew up in Kennett, Missouri, where she was a member of the
Kennett Swim Team. After graduating in high school, she went on to attend college at Central Methodist,
returning during the summer breaks to coach the swim team she grew up with. Sally finished her college
education at Southeast Missouri State University and moved to Jackson, Missouri, in 1989. In May of 1992 she
began coaching the Barracuda Swim Team in Jackson, where she stayed for 8 years until the Barracuda year
round program was merged with the Gators' in 1999. Coach Sally is very excited to be involved with the Gator
Swim Team again developing young swimmers. |

Dayna Powell, Certified Swim Coach
Coach Dayna has been coaching Central High School for over 20 years. She was recently honored at the Missouri High School Girls Swimming Championships with the Walter H. Lundt Award, a service award given by the state swimming coaches association for contributions and unselfish devotion to the sport of swimming. She is an advisor for the team and will be starting her second year Coaching with the Gator summer league team.

Coach Rebecca joined the Gator coaching staff in 2010 after her 2 sons joined the team. She brings more than
4 years of coaching experience along with growing up as USA age group swimmer in Indiana. She was a member of the 1985 Indiana State Girls High School Swimming Championships Team. She specializes in stroke instruction for entry level swimmers.

Ann Welker, Certified Swim Coach
Coach Ann is certified by the Red Cross as a Water Safety Instructor and has over
30 years of experience teaching kids to swim. She became a USA Swimming official 15 years ago and has achieved a Level 5 Administrative Referee Certification (national level). Coach Ann currently teaches at Notre Dame High School.
