Many thanks to 2000 Olympic Bronze Medalist and American Recordholder Chris Thompson for sharing his time, tips, drills and swimmer's wisdom (as well as autographed swim caps and postcards) during his visit to Cape Girardeau and Paducah Oct. 2-3, 2004, (details in the news archive). Chris is a late addition to the team roster at the upcoming 2004 World Championships Oct. 7-11 in Indianapolis, where he will swim the men's 1,500-meter freestyle (roster). We especially appreciate the time he spent with us in the face of last-minute training preparations. Gator Coach Steve Franklin was Chris's coach in Oregon when Chris was 12-14 years old. He credited Coach Steve for steering him toward distance events and for providing him with excellent training in fundamentals.
